What the plugin does not do
Search "WordPress backlink plugin" and most results are auto-injection tools that scan your existing content and insert outbound links to unvetted websites in exchange for a fee or a reciprocal link. The HYPERLINKS SEO plugin doesn't work that way, and it's worth being specific about the difference: it does not modify or edit any of your existing content, it does not add links to your previous posts, it does not automatically accept inbound link placements from other sites, and it does not alter your theme, users or site settings. The only two things it does are publish content the platform sends it and verify that the resulting link is live — nothing runs unless you've approved a placement through your dashboard.
Compatibility: the plugin works with any WordPress installation (self-hosted or WordPress.org-managed) running a supported PHP version with the REST API enabled, which is the default on virtually every WordPress site built in the last several years. It doesn't require a specific theme or page builder, and it coexists with standard SEO and caching plugins. Some security plugins rate-limit or block the REST API by default — if that's the case on your site, the setup guide covers how to allow the connection.
